Cozy sweaters, fallen leaves, rich colors…there’s just something about autumn that warms the heart! And when it comes to weddings inspired by the natural beauty of the season, the result is nothing short of pure magic. From color schemes to decor to sweet treats, we’ve rounded up the 5 wedding trends we’re looking forward to this fall.
Rich Dramatic Hues: The key to crafting the quintessential fall wedding? Color! There are so many beautiful hues associated with the autumn season, and this year, it’s all about dramatic jewel tones! Think cranberry red, sangria (a lovely mixture of lavender and dark purple), teal and vibrant orange. Paired with neutral accents, like mauve, light sage and camel, your wedding is sure to be a stunner.
Seasonally-Appropriate Attire: Many brides are incorporating traditional fall style into their bridal attire. And why not? Weddings in late September or mid October are generally cooler, calling for accessories that are both practical and positively chic. Try pairing your gown with a shawl or cardigan that reflects your wedding accent color. A statement accessory adds a little something extra to your look and will also keep you comfortable if your wedding falls on a crisp, chilly day.
Natural Elements: From colorful leaves to pumpkins, use natural elements and foliage to round out your wedding decor. Paint mini pumpkins or apples to be used as escort cards, add fall leaves and greenery to your bouquet, or incorporate foliage into your tablescape or wedding cake. Not only are these elements seasonally appropriate, they’re also easy to DIY and add an authentic touch to your celebration.
Location, Location: Speaking of fall foliage, many couples have started seeking out ceremony or reception venue whose landscape includes those elements. Apple orchards and wine vineyards, for instance, offer spectacular views of the season’s foliage. The natural surroundings also provide the perfect backdrop for photos, with the changing leaves on full display.
Fall Fare: Autumn is all about the comforts of classic “feel-good” food, and recipes inspired by hearty, homemade fare will have a place on wedding menus this season. A warm signature cocktail, like spiked apple cider or mulled wine, is an autumn wedding essential, while mini pies and apple tarts are the perfect sweet table staple. For the main course, opt for heartier foods, like pork tenderloin and roasted carrots or squash.
Planning a fall wedding of your own? Rely on the natural beauty of the season to inspire your details and decor, whether it’s your color scheme or your centerpieces. And, don’t forget to sit down with your photographer and discuss ways to ensure those seasonal elements shine through in your photos!
